Poster Proposal

Name: Claire Noble

Date: Tuesday 30th September 2014

Proposal for creative media production project:

Format and Medium: DVD sleeve

Sector: Filming advertisement and marketing.

Working Title: Beyond

Genre: Mystery and drama (Possibly horror).

Intended audience and age: I intend to aim this at 18 years +. The audience I'm aiming this at will most likely like the films Inception, Constantine and Donnie Darko etc.

Summary of content: At the age of five, Sam Hayes had strange dreams about what lurked in the dark and could often lucid dream. Everything held itself together and she thought nothing of it. That was until she had hit her seventeenth birthday; that's when it all started to change. Her dreams became worse and much more real. So real that she thought she was seeing the monsters and "things" in her dreams in real life. But what even she didn't know is that things were about to get worse and her fate was sealed by God himself.

Summary of style: Possibly dark colours with the odd light colours. This will leave mystery to the film poster as they might not know what to think of what's going to happen (e.g. dark background for horror and light background for a happy themed film).

Legal and ethical considerations: To not copyright anything or disturb/upset any companies, I will conduct research on companies such as BBFC to see which option applies to my poster or the genre of the poster.

Photoshop - Editing the woman's face

On Photoshop today, I'll be editing a females face so that it looks "perfect" which means I'll be getting rid of any spots, birthmarks, facial flaws (e.g. Crows feet or bags) and shine on her face. This will make her look more like the rest of the females/models on the front cover of a magazine.

The first thing I had to do was gather a picture of a woman from the internet and then download it; dragging it onto my desktop and opening the image with Photoshop. Once the picture of the woman had opened in Photoshop, I began to edit her face by removing spots and moles/birthmarks with the eraser tool; using the option that says "Spot Healing Brush Tool".

After the spots and marks were removed, I then followed on to blur the picture to make the skin look softer and for it to have less shine. When I'd finished blurring the image, I erased out the bits I needed to in order to make the picture still seem real. The bits I erased were the eyes, mouth, the outline of the nose, the outline of the face and the eyebrows. Now the woman is starting to look more flawless and "perfect".

Once I'd done this, I was free to edit more and change anything I wanted about her. Her hair, eye colour, lip colour etc. So I created a new layer and set the layers settings to multiply and used the paint tool to colour over the hair carefully; making sure not to go over it too much as it would ruin the picture. When finishing this, I created yet another layer and decided to add make up onto her. On this layer, I put the setting onto overlay and then selected a brown and went over the eyes with it and then selected a different brown; going over the eyelids. And then choosing a colour a bit lighter than the original colour of her lips, going over it once more. After doing this, I'd finished my editing and then saved the picture.

The pictures below are a before and after.

Analyse five fonts from Dafont

Dafont is a website that you can download and use the fonts you want without any hassle. You're able to download any font you want and as many as you want as well as having the option to search for what style you want. Below I'm going to analyse five different fonts specifically from dafont. These fonts are Horror, Romance, Sci-fi, Action and Historical.

Horror:
This font is a horror styled font and appears to have the effect of blood splattering/spraying around the actual text. This would be one of the reasons that the horror genre is given off because if you were to put this font in red, it would look more like the blood splatter effect; where as the writing is in black right now it looks like black blood and possibly scattered dirt. Another reason that this font gives off the horror feel is because of the creepy/weird text that the blood splatter effect is around. It stands out and personally acts as a warning to me because of how bold and big it is.

Romance:
This font comes across as a romantic styled font. The reason I state this about the font is because of the love hearts around the Times New Roman font. When this font is in black, it looks bland and boring. But if the user of the font were to put it in red, pink or light pink it would look more like the romantic text you want but also a bit more interesting at the same time. Another reason why the text comes across to me as romantic is because of the way the letters are styled (e.g. The R in Romantic and the O in romantic).

Sci-fi:
With this font, it's style is more of a Sci-fi effect as the lettering is a weird alien type text. As I've stated with every text above, in black it looks boring and plain but when the user of the text puts it into a colour (One that fits the writing and has relevance to the text) it looks brighter and looks like it has more life. The reason I feel that this text is more of a Sci-fi is because the E in NEO has a type of warning effect on the bottom of it and in the SCI-FI looks science like.

Action:
This next text looks like an action styled text because of the way it's styled. All the letters in Hauser are square like and boxed in. This gives off the effect of action and a bit of mystery. Another the reason I think that this text looks adventurous is because I put the lettering into word and typed in "Action Text" to see how it would look. The result I got supports the fact that it looks like an action styled text.
